Lata Shamdasani
Executive Financial Consultant
Every day, I help people prioritize important and personal objectives while also assisting in protecting their loved ones from uncertainty caused by unplanned occurrences. By providing sound advice and gentle encouragement, I have helped many to kick-off a journey of fulfillment and discovery. I thrive on helping people succeed. When out of the office I love badminton and always enjoy a good stretch during yoga.
Lata has been one of the most sincere and authentic financial consultants I have met. I’ve dealt with many insurance companies in my time; I was in a situation that required me to transfer my policies to Lata. I couldn’t be happier with the result. She diligently showed me how I could save on my policy, detected what I needed at this stage of my life, and consulted me on what aspects can be replaced. Arranging for private medical insurance was a priority for me when I relocated to Singapore for my job. I enjoy problem solving and have been representing Prudential as a financial consultant for close to 10 years. I work with a great team that collectively has over 40 years of financial service experience.
Having acquired many years of experience in this field, I am now moving onto expanding my client’s awareness of the timeless principles of finance. Through short educational sessions hosted by me, my hope is my clients can acquire clarity to confidently apply financial principles on their own. With the goal being to save time, money, and pitfalls. This allows clients to build financial security for their future, even if I am not in the picture. In my former life, I was a librarian. Though my current work in financial consulting appears to be different, the underlying nature of both are still aligned to helping people become better informed and to support them to be their best self.
My hobbies are oil painting, reading, exploring Singapore, and catching up with friends.

Late 2009, I made a leap of faith, transitioning from education to insurance. Since then, I’ve never looked back or regretted my decision.
The journey has been anything but smooth sailing. However, the immense sense of fulfilment I receive from delivering claims pay-outs and comprehensive financial planning has kept me going strong to this day and will continue to keep me going for many years to come.
Swimming is my favourite sport. I am also a keen learner, constantly looking to upgrade my knowledge to heighten my competency, but I am not a fan of exams!
In 2016, my eyesight in both eyes seemed to worsen and the power for my contact lenses increased exponentially. It went from 400 to almost 900 over 3 months. For this reason, I went to the National Eye Center for a 2-hour vision screening, only to be given this verdict: “scar tissues in both eyes”. I needed a solution and it’s very frustrating to not be able to have a clear vision of what’s going on. That’s when I asked Weichun if I could see a private ophthalmologist instead. He provided me with a reputable one within a week and even arranged the appointment to quickly settle my eye issue. The doctor at Eagle Eye Center assessed and concluded that I had cataract. A date for my cataract operation was set up within two weeks. It was a quick operation, and the follow-up was thorough. The following year I injured my shoulder doing a yoga pose and Weichun arranged an appointment with an orthopaedic specialist. Within a week, the orthopedist saw me, and I was given an MRI. A physiotherapist was also arranged to help with my recovery. My conditions could have compounded if not for Weichun’s prompt action that saved me from any further agonising or frustrating moments while waiting for prognosis and treatment.
My entire family’s insurance portfolio which includes medical coverage for myself, my 2 kids, wife, and parents has been serviced by Huang Weichun for the last 4 years. Not to mention the financial portfolio he assists me with. He is dedicated to helping us; committed to building deep relationships and trust. He is knowledgeable about all insurance matters and most importantly, he always goes above and beyond to support and help us. He isn’t not just my insurance agent but a true family friend. I am blessed to have him as my agent, and I put 100% of my trust in him.
Weichun has always been someone I can count on. He’ll pick up my phone calls 7 times in a day ready to assist me with any needs I have! He is the go-to man when it comes to insurance protection and planning. I can tell he cares about claims unlike many other agents. I’ve had my fair share of experience with other agents, and I have to say, Weichun is the best I’ve worked with.
